A key goal of proponents of covenant marriage is to eliminate laws permitting no-fault divorce

Will this restore the traditional nuclear family structure and fundamental family values?

What will be an ideal response?

Advocates of covenant marriage tend to believe that the liberalization of divorce laws and creation
of no-fault divorce has made it too easy for couples to separate, and thereby has lead to decay in
fundamental family values. Critics maintain that divorce is almost always a wrenching and painful
process even when it by agreement and making it more difficult to divorce only increases the
burden upon wives in abusive marriages. Is no-fault divorce the cause of change in roles and the
nature of commitment in the nuclear family, or the result of change in society?
