What will be an ideal response?
A paralegal must understand that stare decisis, "stand by the decision," permeates the U.S. legal system. Judges will make decisions based on how previous, similar cases were decided. The goal in legal research is to locate a precedent wherein that previous case can be used to know what the outcome in a new, similar case will be.
