1.The blade cuts on the forward stroke only. Applying pressure during the return stroke will pull the blade. Be sure the blade is properly installed with the teeth facing away from the handle so that they cut during the forward stroke.
2. Use the entire blade when cutting so that the entire blade gets a chance to wear evenly.
3. When cutting steel, cutting oil will make cutting easier and extend the life of the blade.
4. Some hacksaw blades have fewer teeth for faster cutting of thick metals.
5. For sheet metal, the hacksaw blade must have more teeth so that the sheet metal does not drop between the teeth, damaging them. The blade should have at least two teeth in contact with the metal at all times.
