Plagiarism (sometimes called academic dishonesty) involves the intentional or unintentional taking of someone else’s words or ideas and passing them off as your own.
Infringement is both a civil and criminal matter involving the taking of someone else’s property—in this case his or her words—and using that property without obtaining or paying for permission.
