Describe the role of a youth organization on adolescent development.

What will be an ideal response?

Youth organizations can have an important influence on adolescent development. Currently there are more than 400 national youth organizations in the United States, serving 30 million young people each year. Adolescents who join such groups are more likely to participate in community activities in adulthood and have higher self-esteem, are better educated, and come from families with higher incomes than their counterparts who do not participate in youth groups. Participation in youth groups can help adolescents practice the interpersonal and organizational skills that are important for success in adult roles.
