What are semantics? How might misunderstandings arise in semantics?

What will be an ideal response?

Semantics refer to word meanings. In semantics, words have both denotative and connotative meanings. Denotative meanings are highly public and are a word’s formal or dictionary definition, accepted culturally. However, connotative meanings are informal meanings associated with feelings and personal experiences. They are relational rather than public. Misunderstandings may arise when we confuse a connotative meaning for a denotative meaning. For example, in reference to dance moves, to some people, describing the moves using the word sick might conjure up feelings of being revolted by the dance, whereas for others, it might indicate a higher-level compliment.
