Anesthesia: General
Procedure: Plantar fasciotomy of the instep of the left foot.
After the administration of anesthesia, the patient was placed in surgical position. A transverse incision, 1.5 inches (3.8 cm) in length, was made distal to the surface of the plantar heel and deepened down to the level of the fascia. A retractor was placed into the site and held with hemostasis. The plantar fascia was transected using a #15 sterile deep blade. The site was closed with horizontal mattress sutures. The patient tolerated the procedure well and was sent to the recovery room in stable condition.
