Discuss the significance of Amenhotep IV

What will be an ideal response?

Amenhotop IV is significant for his rejection of polytheism for henotheism. He changes his name and the capitol of Egypt to Akhenaten reflecting his belief in only a single god. Amenhotep IV consolidates the power of the pharaoh who, as the representative of Aten on earth, is the sole object of worship. He also initiates a new, more realistic and intimate style of art known as the Amarna style. Amenhotop IV gives prominence to his wife Nefertiti who becomes a frequent subject of sculpture.
