Discuss anonymous complaints and how you would handle them as a supervisor

What will be an ideal response?

The National Advisory Commission on Criminal Justice Standards and Goals recommends all complaints be permanently recorded. From this standard flows another type of complaint that comes from an unidentified source: the anonymous complaint. In regards to handling them, a police agency serious about professionalism and the public trust must take anonymous complaints as seriously as those brought forward by a known complainant; in fact, anonymous complaints have the potential to be even more serious when you consider that the complainant probably has serious fears about identifying himself.
