Compare the performance of clay and sandstone as aquiclude materials in terms of porosity and permeability
Clay would be an excellent material from an aquiclude. Although it has high porosity and can hold a lot of water, it has very low permeability because of the elongated shape of it's grains. The lack of permeability makes clay an excellent barrier to water.
Sandstone also has high porosity, but it has high permeability. This means it will allow water to flow through it, making it a poor choice for an aquiclude material.
