Explain how the terms long-term orientation, short-term orientation, monotheistic, and polytheistic are related and how they represent a cultural value

What will be an ideal response?

This question is designed to have students show their understanding of how concepts are related to other larger concepts.

The long-term versus short-term orientation is the dimension of a society's value orientation that reflects its attitude toward virtue or truth.

Monotheistic refers to belief in one god; polytheistic refers to belief in more than one god. Monotheism is characteristic of a short-term orientation because the belief in a single truth is parallel to belief in one god. On the other hand, polytheism is more closely associated with long-term orientation because the emphasis on virtue and greater purposes is parallel to the beliefs of polytheistic religions.
