Explain the critiques of the idea of the resource curse.

Some very poor countries have no resources at all. Some resource rich countries are middle to high income countries. The cause and effect relationship between resources and GDP is not entirely clear. Many o the world’s richest countries are resource rich and have used their resources as an aid to development. Dutch disease is not inevitable. Declining terms of trade is also not a consistent trend.
