What are the legislations for protecting children from sexual exploitation?
What will be an ideal response?
All states have laws against statutory rape, or carnal knowledge of a juvenile. These laws presume that all intercourse by an adult male (normally one over 17 or 18) with any female under a certain age is, by definition, illicit because she cannot give genuine consent. There is a great variety of laws against the sexual abuse of children, called variously child molestation, carnal abuse of a child, or impairing the morals of a child. They cover all sexual contact between adult and child, regardless of gender, and can include the use of sexual language, exhibitionism, showing pornography to a child, having a child witness intercourse, or taking a child to a brothel or gay bar. Finally, every state includes laws against incest prohibiting sexual relations between children and their biological parents, ancestors, or other siblings; some also prohibit activity involving step- and adoptive-parents.
