The pollen grain reaches the stigma and grows a pollen tube to reach the ovule. During this time, one of the cells within the pollen tube divides to form two sperm cells. When the pollen tube reaches the embryo sac, one of the sperm cells fertilizes the egg cell, forming a zygote. The other sperm cell fuses with the two polar nuclei, forming a triploid primary endosperm nucleus.
