Discuss three examples of assistive technology to support safety for students with disabilities.

What will be an ideal response?

Safety can be included through different technologies. One technology is cell phones. With cell phones, students can call or text for assistance if they are lost, including providing information of where they might be within a community. Another example of an assistive technology for safety can be a flashing smoke detector. Individuals with hearing impairments may not be able to hear smoke detectors so ones that provide visual flashing signals in addition to noise can support safety. Finally, appliances equipped with braille promote safety in cooking and food preparation for individuals who have a visual impairment.
