Technology may be used without a search warrant to enhance observation of an area or object already in plain view (open fields, curtilage). The physical structure of the home possesses a high expectation of privacy. Technology may not be used without a warrant founded on probable cause to engage in the surveillance of the interior of the home in order to detect activity that otherwise would not be revealed without physically entering the home.
