What are some characteristics of witnesses that may affect the acquisition of information?
What will be an ideal response?
High levels of fear and stress can substantially reduce the accuracy of information. Physical conditions must also be considered. A witness’s expectations can also affect the accuracy of information. When a witness has knowledge about a particular object, he/she may be able to provide more-accurate information. Age has shown to be important (children and elderly provide less-accurate information). Females are more reliable, but men are more confident.
