Gilligan pointed to the fact that Kohlberg’s scheme was validated on a group of males only. Turiel and others pointed out that Kohlberg used hypothetical situations, not the daily circumstances children might encounter. A third criticism is that his theory reflects Western values and cannot be applied to other cultures.
