Sub threshold depressions include adjustment disorders, adjustment to change or loss and dysthymia, a more persistent low level of depression over the lifetime. Late life depressions are more characterized by listlessness and apathy. Most older persons with late life depression have not had a history of depression earlier in their life. They may also experience more memory loss and greater impairment in executive functioning.
