Present guidelines for preventing cardiovascular disease.
What will be an ideal response?
Responses will vary; most cardiovascular risk factors are preventable and reversible. Overall, risk factor management is the best guideline to lower the risk. Guidelines for preventing cardiovascular disease include lifetime physical fitness, nutrition recommendations, smoking cessation, blood pressure control, and stress management. Active lifestyles combined with aerobic exercise are two of the most important things you can do to prevent and reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems. Nutritionally, a diet with ample amounts of fruits, vegetables, and grains, and low in salt, sugar, and alcohol is the best prevention. Consuming adequate amount so fiber, avoiding trans fats, being conscientious of cooking techniques, and maintaining recommended body weight are key. Smoking cessation is important for the prevention of cardiovascular disease as the risk for CVD starts to decrease the moment you quit. Blood pressure control is important because 90 percent of al cases have no definitive cause. Therefore, participating in aerobic exercise, reducing your weight, not smoking, lowering your caffeine intake, and having a low-sodium diet are all helpful in maintaining a healthy blood pressure level. Finally, stress management is important to the prevention of cardiovascular disease. It is not so much the stressor that causes the problem, but rather the person's response to the stressor. Physical activity can help alleviate the impact of stress on your body due to the metabolism of catecholamines during physical activity. This metabolism of catecholamines helps the body to return to a normal state.
