Discuss the current issues in the courts over the monitoring of cell phones.

What will be an ideal response?


Answer should indicate that, after 9/11, monitoring devices were designed and used to search for potential terrorist activity in texts and phone conversations. Currently, courts are debating of the monitoring of cell phones in nonemergency situations and whether evidence may be collected from a phone without a warrant. At present, states vary on the warrant requirement for cell phone information.
