Discuss the critics of pluralist theorist and interest groups.
What will be an ideal response?
Ans: Varies. A critical perspective of a pluralist view on governance points out that government is unlikely to represent or recognize all interests. Also, the government is not a neutral mediator between competing interest groups. This is something that pluralists fail to recognize. Some political practices have only been given to those who are privileged such as wealthy people, Whites, and males. Political leaders tend to side with the monetary values and interest over people’s interest. This is also something that pluralists fail to acknowledge. In sum, political practices demonstrate that some interest groups are more powerful than others. And governments do not apply the rules neutrally, as the theory claims.
