Predict the effects of a superficial injury to the lateral columns.

What will be an ideal response?

The superficial lateral columns contain the spinocerebellar tracts responsible for carrying proprioceptive information. As a result of lacking some proprioceptive information, motor movement, especially complex movements, could become uncoordinated. Additionally, there would be no conscious recognition of this lack of proprioception because the information does not reach the cerebral cortex.
