Explain the Family Violence Prevention and Services Act and what it provides victims.
What will be an ideal response?
First, it created a national domestic violence hotline. When calling the hotline,
persons can receive referrals to services for family violence throughout the United
States and territories. Second, it provides direct services to victim and their families,
mainly through grant funding to states, territories, and tribes, which then distribute funds
to domestic violence service providers and organizations. Third, it funds domestic
violence prevention through the Domestic Violence Prevention Enhancement and
Leadership Through Allies (DELTA). During the fiscal year 2014, the FVPSA was
funded at $143.2 million (Fernandes-Alcantara, 2014).
