Which factors make youth vulnerable to child molesters and sexual predators?
What will be an ideal response?
In general, youth of 13–17 years are most vulnerable to sexual predators. Naiveté and inexperience can make young people more susceptible to molesters. Victims of Internet-initiated sex crimes often believe their relationship with the predator to be romantic, and they avoid sharing any information with their family and friends. These relationships develop quickly, while victims are generally still immature and incapable of emotional intimacy and healthy relationships. It is known that romantic and sexual involvement at the aforementioned ages leads to more risky behaviors. However, young people with a
history of sexual and/or physical abuse are at the greatest risk, as they are looking for attention and affection, which they believe they will get from the aggressor.
