Discuss behavioral music therapy.
What will be an ideal response?
Behavioral music therapy also uses the technique of differential reinforcement which involves positive reinforcement for appropriate behaviors while ignoring maladaptive behaviors, and consequently extinguishing the undesirable behavior. The music therapist provides appropriate awards for the client’s being on task, while ignoring acting-out behavior (Forinash, 2005). Behavior music therapy focuses on overt client behaviors. Behavior music therapy is used to improve social skills and to improve academic skills and other adaptive behaviors.
