Explain what a totals query is and the steps necessary to create one

A totals query contains an additional row in the query design grid and is used to display aggregate data when the query is run. The Design view is used to display the Total row in the design grid by clicking Totals in the Show/Hide group. Once the Totals row is displayed, click in the Total row of the column in which an aggregate function will be added, when the selection arrow appears, click it and select the desired function.
