What are some of the benefits and challenges to self-report surveys of child sexual assault?

What will be an ideal response?

Students should discuss how self-report surveys can often present a clearer picture of the rate of victimization, because they avoid the underreporting that happens to professionals. At the same time, even adults sometimes do not want to disclose their experiences with CSA, and may have memory recall issues. Lastly, they can only provide a retrospective picture of CSA, not current trends.
