How are gays and lesbians similar to and different from other minority groups?

What will be an ideal response?

Gays and lesbians are the subject of many negative attitudes just as other minorities are. Just as African Americans and women have been denied access to certain jobs and have experienced wage discrimination, so too have homosexuals. Both homosexuals and other minority groups are the subjects of stereotypes. For example, one of them is that gay men are child molesters. As with many stereotypes, this one is false. However, in the case of many minorities, appearance is a fairly good indicator of minority-group status. It is easy to recognize an African American, Hispanic, or a woman, for example, but one cannot tell simply by looking at a person what his or her sexual orientation is. This makes it fairly easy for a homosexual to get along in the heterosexual world. However, it encourages the person to live a lie and to deny his or her true identity which can be psychologically stressful.
