Describe the RAM needs of a bastion host.
What will be an ideal response?
RAMi s always important when operating a server, but because the bastion host may be providing only a single service on the network, you aren't likely to need multiterabytes worth of RAM. Don't forget that, in addition to the services you provide on the bastion host, you'll probably need to operate a program that maintains, rotates (i.e., moves the current log file to a storage area and opens a new log file), and clears outdated log files. With the costs of RAM dropping on a regular basis, however, you should be able to set up a robust system with sufficient memory at a reasonable price. At the time of this printing, the industry standard for bastion host memory is between 4 GB and 8 GB of RAM at an estimated $50 to $75 per gigabyte, depending on the speed, size, and manufacturer of the memory.
