Explain how an evolutionary perspective helps us understand human sexuality in particular.

What will be an ideal response?

Human sexuality is more complex than that of animals. It is still based on evolved sexual drive and includes many evolved behaviors, but it is also affected and modified by social and religious pressures and a variety of emotions, perceptions, and other reactions to sexual stimuli or events. In order to fully comprehend the sexuality of humans, researchers have to understand what are evolved behaviors and what are specific, often socially shaped behaviors. In order to do that, they take an evolutionary perspective and explore many similarities and differences between human and animal sexuality. This
way, researchers can separate evolved sexual drive and behaviors shared with other species from many specificities of human sexuality.
