How are illegal immigrants dealt with in the American correctional system?
What will be an ideal response?
Illegal immigrants are a growing population in American prisons. Illegal immigrants are now detained in detention centers before they are deported back to their country. Evidence shows that Hispanics deal with racism and anti-immigration status, which leads to higher amounts of confinement for immigrants. Illegal immigrants have unique problems in prison because of the language barrier and the recruitment into ethnically compatible gangs. Family detention centers are in progress of being created as a minimum-security facility that would provide a living space for the entire family prior to court and deportation.
