What is selective attention? Provide an example

What will be an ideal response?


Selective attention occurs when consciously or unconsciously one attends to a narrow range of the sensory information available. For example, when the professor indicates that I will be tested on a specific term or concept, I pay closer attention to what he/she is saying and take better notes.
