Discuss how to repair cracks in areas where the foundation and the lower edge of exterior brick or siding meet.

What will be an ideal response?

Cracks where brick and concrete meet can be caulked or filled with find sand mortar if they are wide. In either case, fill the crack as fully as possible with the sealing material. Siding may overlap the foundation, but not be sealed to it all. If an opening exists, it must be filled with a sealing material all around the house. Foam-in-place insulation can
be used for narrow openings up to three quarters of an inch. Wider cracks should be closed with wood stringers wide enough to fill the opening. A bead of caulk laid on both sides of the stringer before it is set in place will seal the crack effectively without the need for additional caulking.
