Briefly compare IIS and Apache web servers.
What will be an ideal response?
Internet Information Services (IIS) is a Web server that only runs on the Microsoft Windows Server operating system platform. A majority of UNIX/Linux-based operating systems run Apache HTTP Server. As of this writing, Apache serves ~44 percent of the active Web sites on the Internet. Apache is incredibly popular, runs on multiple operating systems (including Windows), and, best of all, is free! In comparison, even with the weight of Microsoft behind it, IIS only commands about 7 percent market share of active Web sites.
