Explain how the use of volunteers as mentors is beneficial to the reentry process.
What will be an ideal response?
When members of the community get involved in the reentry process by serving as
volunteers or mentors, they place informal social controls on the offender. They also aid
the offender in successful reentry by providing them community support in the form of
jobs and acceptance. This leads to the offender being less likely to reoffend.
