Use Skinner’s radical behaviorism to explain Claire’s behavior.

What will be an ideal response?

Claire is uncomfortable with social interaction and therefore punishing. Because punishment makes it less likely that a behavior will occur again, Claire is less and less likely to engage socially with others, as long as such interactions make her uncomfortable. Similarly, Claire’s retreat to her room to watch DVDs reinforces her social isolation through negative reinforcement. Removing herself from social situations is reinforcing so that she is less likely to be social in the future and more likely to isolate herself from others.
