Describe how the eye focuses on objects moving nearer or farther away. Include the following in your answer : lens, ciliary muscle, suspensory ligaments, fovea, more light refraction, and less light refraction
What will be an ideal response?
Viewing objects far away requires less light refraction in order to focus the image on the fovea; therefore, the ciliary muscle relaxes, allowing the suspensory ligaments to become taut. This stretches the lens, causing it to flatten and refract (bend) light less. When the object is closer, the light must be refracted to a greater degree. In response, the ciliary muscle contracts and loosens the suspensory ligaments. This allows the lens to become more rounded and refract to a greater degree.
