Explain how to assess whether pain is coming from a dysfunctional muscle (contractile tissue) or a dysfunctional ligament (noncontractile tissue)

What will be an ideal response?

Pain coming from a dysfunctional muscle usually radiates the length of the muscle and occurs during active movement or resisted movement but not always during passive movement. Pain from a dysfunctional ligament is usually localized over the ligament and often shows up during passive joint motion but not always during active or resisted motion.
