UDL modifies how teachers present information, and most IEP teams should consider this challenge. When teachers consider the needs of all of their students, and use interventions to address all those needs, they are truly using UDL. Instructional pacing is an important example of UDL. It involves delivering course content in smaller increments or in packets of information and allowing students to respond to smaller chunks of learning. The critical features of instructional pacing are: appropriate pacing; including opportunities for frequent student responses; allowing adequate processing time; monitoring student responses to know if they are mastering the content; and providing frequent supportive feedback.
