Annual income of the capitalist class (1%) is $1,000,000 plus a year. The upper-middle class (15%) earns $125,000 plus a year. The lower middle-class (34%) earns approximately $60,000 per year. The working class (30%) earns $35,000 per year. The working poor (16%) earn $17,000 or less per year. The underclass (4%) earns less than $10,000 per year. In 2009, 25.8% of African Americans lived in poverty, compared to 9.46% of whites and 25.3% of Hispanics. In 2007, the median net worth for non-Hispanic white families was $170,400, but for non-white or Hispanic families, it was $27,800. One study found that among workers with advanced degrees, blacks earned $2.5 million over the course of their careers and Hispanic workers $2.6 million, compared with $3.1 million for white and Asian American workers.
