A good cover letter contains three main aspects. List them, and provide a brief explanation of each.

What will be an ideal response?


1) Introduction. In the introduction you want to catch the reader's attention. Describe why you're writing to them, how you learned about the job opening, and why you're interested in it. Focus on the connection between what the position requires and your qualifications.
2) Body. In the body, you want to draw the reader in. Briefly describe what makes you unique, highlight your major accomplishments and qualifications from your personal history. Make the argument that your skills match the job. Be enthusiastic.
3) Conclusion. Make a call for action in the conclusion. Restate your interest in the position. Suggest that you would like to discuss the position further and that you're available for an interview. Thank them for considering your application.
