Restorative justice is concerned with two key concepts: harm and repair. First, it is clear that crime causes several types of harm (Karp, 2001, p. 729). Repair is critical. That is, restorative justice emphasizes the importance of repairing the harm that crime causes and thereby restoring a sense of community.
