ANS: The principle of parsimony states that simple explanations of relationships among phenomena are preferred over more complex ones. Scientists aim to reduce complex realities to simple explanations. According to the principle of parsimony, if two competing theories explain and predict a phenomenon equally well, the more parsimonius theory is to be preferred.
