How is "brittle" deformation different from "ductile" deformation, and why?

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: brittle deformation occurs in rocks @ low pressures that are colder and prone to breakage, where as ductile deformation occurs in rocks under high pressures @ high temperature where energy is higher and rocks can flow.
