Explain the differences between the formal organization and the informal organization
What will be an ideal response?
The formal organization is the centralized hierarchy of command from police chief through the captains down to the police officers. The chief gives the command and the formal organization is expected to carry out the chief's policies. However, the informal organization of friendships, rumor, divided interests, and specialized peer groups may or may not carry out a chief's orders. These informal groups and carriers of information could create slow downs, deliberate misunderstandings, and present subtle pressures to carry out only part of a policy or order.
