Desert winds are effective at producing erosional and depositional features. List one depositional feature and one erosional feature formed by wind in deserts and explain how each forms
Erosional
1. Ventifacts - stones with polished or pitted surfaces due to wind abrasion
2. Yardangs - elongated, asymmetrical ridges parallel to prevailing winds caused by differential erosion
3. Deflation hollows or blowouts - shallow depressions of varying size caused by differential removal of surface materials
4. Desert pavement - surface of larger sized grains that are closely fitted created from removal of smaller sediments
Depositional
1. Dunes - form when wind flows over and around an obstruction causing sand to pile up
2. Any specific type of dune would also be an acceptable answer
