What is the purpose of requiring divorcing parents to attend mandatory parenting education programs? What is a parenting plan and what issues does it normally address?
What will be an ideal response?
Seminars are designed to give parents the tools to prevent themselves from using children as pawns in the post-divorce custody/visitation/support issues. A parenting plan should iron out issues in advance, including: shared parenting decision-making, schedules (including special events, holidays and regular lessons and appointments), methods by which future disputes will be resolved, and modification provisions/review, to help the plan be responsive to the changing needs of growing children.
