What are the annular pulleys (vaginal ligaments)? Where are they found and what function(s) do they serve?

What will be an ideal response?

ANS:
The annular pulleys are fibrous bands found on the volar surfaces of the transverse metacarpal ligament and the proximal and middle phalanges. The annular pulleys and the bones to which they connect form osseoligamentous tunnels through which the long finger tendons pass. These tunnels loosely bind the long flexor tendons to the bone to prevent bow-stringing of the tendons during contraction of the finger flexors. Smooth gliding of the tendons on the fibrous bands is dependent upon intact digital tendon sheaths that surround the tendons as the tendons pass through the tunnels.
