Discuss the distinction between robbery and burglary

What will be an ideal response?

• Burglary is considered a property crime in which the thief seeks to avoid direct contact with people during commission of the crime. In addition, locations of burglaries are usually unoccupied homes or businesses where no witnesses are present. The crime of robbery is quite different. Here, the robber chooses to confront his or her victim at a location where witnesses are present. Robbery is therefore classified as a crime against persons.
